Simple Little Fairisle Knits Errata

THE FOLLOWING PATTERN TEXT (FOR THE OWLS BAG GUSSET LINING AND MAKING UP) WAS OMITTED IN ERROR FROM THIS BOOK.

 

GUSSET LINING (MAKE 2)

With contrast-coloured thread, mark halfway points along cast-on edges of back and front lining.

Using 3.25mm (US 3) needles and yarn A, cast on 19 sts.

Work in st st until piece fits from marker across cast-on edge, ending with a P row.

Beg with a K row, cont in st st and stripes as given for back and front lining until same number of ‘stripes’ have been worked, ending with RS facing for next row.

Leave these sts on a holder (for top edging).

 

HANDLES (MAKE 2)

Using 3.75mm (US 5) needles and yarn A, cast on 21 sts.

Row 1 (RS) K5, sl1P, k9, sl1P, k5.

Row 2 P to end

Rep the last

2 rows 42 times more.

Cast off.

 

MAKING UP

Join cast-on edges of bag gussets. Sew row ends of gussets along cast-on edges of bag back and front, ending at markers and matching seam of gusset with halfway points (cast-on edges) of back and front. Sew bag gussets, from marker, along row ends of bag back and front, ending at top (holder) edge.

Make up the striped bag lining in same way.

 

TOP EDGING

With WS together, place lining inside bag.

Using 3.25mm (US 3) circular needle and yarn A, K together 1 st from bag and 1 st from lining all round top edge. 148 sts.

Join and work in rounds as folls:

Next round P to end.

Next round K to end.

Rep the last 2 rounds twice more.

Cast off purlwise.

Cut Petersham ribbon in half. Place it along centre of WS handle and slip stitch in place along slipped sts. Bring row ends of handle together encasing Petersham ribbon and sew row ends together. Sew handles in place to inside of bag. Press according to instructions on ball band.
